World Heritage Centre Director Mechtild Rössler told UN News that UN cultural experts are standing by to offer help. Dr Rössler said that a team of UNESCO experts is on hand to investigate the stability of the stonework and potential damage to stained glass windows.
Norte Dame Cathedral a world Heritage Site often referred to simply as Notre-Dame, The Construction begun in 1160 under Bishop Maurice de Sully and was largely complete by 1260. The Gothic cathedral was a liber pauperum, a “poor people’s book”, covered with sculpture vividly illustrating biblical stories. It is a Classic Example of French Gothic style. The stained glass windows of Notre-Dame, particularly the three rose windows, are among the most famous features of the cathedral. The Resent fire has Damaged Two-thirds of the roof of the famed Notre Dame cathedral.
